My head spins when it comes around. A whirlwind of parties, a tornado of events, flurries of birthdays, and a sprinkling of graduations, parties, events...you get the idea.
At times I gripe, but deep down I love the frenetic pace. I thrive on the constant planning, the wardrobe changes (Oh the wardrobe changes!), the friends, the dinners, and the fun. The highlights thus far include...

~The most brilliant hang at the Jazz Corner with Joe Negri and Howard Paul on May 1st. If you haven't heard Joe or Howard play guitar, it is a must. If you haven't been to the Jazz Corner, GO. Great food (I mean great!), cool vibe, and one of the best jazz clubs in the country.
All only a quick 2 hr drive away!


~ My boy wunderkind extraordinaire Stein, nonchalantly tells me that he has decided to graduate from Georgia Tech (in the allotted 4 years)...with Highest Honors... at the last minute. All while maintaining a VERY healthy social life and holding down a job and 4.0. How can I be upset for having to cancel previously made plans?
Exactly. I can't. Seriously one of the best Mother's Day gifts ever.


~ Getting back on the Cain Train. Trained by Cain is Cherry Street's newest "hot spot". This loft like space has an urban industrial feel. But how can this be a highlight since I have already been working out with Rick Cain? While yes I have been at it, it has not been nearly often enough. I am hitting it as hard as the jankle will allow and I plan to 5 days a week. The motivation is my mirror. When I look into it, I see my BFF. Not my Best Friend Forever...I see a Big Fat F*ck. I am cranked up to rid myself of that mutha once and for all.


~ Tybee Island! There is nothing like a beach trip to regain one's mental health and Tybee Island is the place to get away. Staying at any one of Oceanfront Cottage Rental's well appointed properties definitely recharges the spirit. Not only do you relax on the island but you can get fit in the process. They boast the title of being the Healthiest Beach in America. With plenty of fun activities to keep you active, you'll forget you're getting exercise.


~ Our 3rd annual Jazz Under the Stars Party is just behind us. Each year keeps getting better than the last. What made it spectacular this year? Really taking the time to enjoy the 150 plus guests, having my "BB" (brown brother) Jerry Adams attend, the fabulous musicians that performed, the Georgia Music Hall of Fame providing the stage, and keeping the Chiclet Hunt tradition alive. Lemongrass celebrated their First Anniversary! I am remiss not to have been at the special Chef's Table. But always I celebrate Lemongrass every time I am there. How can one not? It is that fabulous. This past Monday, exhaustion and 3 out of 4 kids home called for some quality family time. While I hate not to have been a part of the celebration I will definitely be there for upcoming brunches, lunches and dinners, wine nights and sushi.
What sets Lemongrass apart? Their fab cuisine made from only the freshest ingredients, the wonderful staff that really is like family, and (let's be honest) the Satin Doll, a drink named after ME!

George Petit's debut gig with his new band GP5 at SOB's in NYC May 25th.
George is not only a gifted producer and engineer, he is truly a brilliant musician. He has monster chops on both the acoustic and electric guitar. His music has a wonderful Brazilian flavor seasoned with a dash of funk. If you are in the city, make a point to make the hang.


The Tybee Beach Bum Parade
Held May 21st is not like your average parade. The floats, often trailers or boats, are filled with water-throwing, skin soaking paraphernalia. Spectators line up along the parade route and are armed with buckets, squirt guns and hoses. What results is an all-out water war for fun loving beach bums of all ages.
